"The most incredible new Windows Mobile application to come along since the introduction of the “palm-size PC”. An indispensable tool for ALL OB’s."
"While glancing at my handheld running AirStrip in between patients, I noticed an unsettling deceleration, called the nurse (before she called me) and had the patient in for a c-section without delay."
Ed Zabrek, MD, F.A.C.O.G., Medical Editor - Pocket PC Magazine
"I love AirStrip OB. I use it almost every day at least once. It is invaluable in keeping close track of my patients. I find that I am also reading the nursing notes much more often."
Lynn Simpson, MD - Cleveland Clinic - Fairview Hospital
"AirStrip was like having an extra step in football. I was usually calling L&D before they knew a problem existed… and I owe it to AirStrip. Thanks!"
George Branning, MD - Baylor
"AirStrip OB is the answer we have all been waiting for to improve our patient outcomes, reduce risk and feel that we are truly improving patient safety and care."
Cozy Armstrong, Director of Risk Management and QA – Northeast Baptist Hospital
"...I run it continuously whenever I have someone in labor. I frequently call the nurses about strip issues or questions about progress before they ever have a chance to call me...
The other day I was in a meeting and had a high risk patient in labor. I had AirStrip OB running right beside me. She began having decels, I left the meeting and was almost to the hospital when they were first calling me to come in. I gained 12 minutes by seeing it myself in real time...
If I send a patient in with an issue, I get the program running on her to see for myself how she looks on the monitor, many times even before the patient has been completely assessed by the nurse.
...the longer I have had the program, the more ways I find to use it and incorporate it into my practice. I cannot imagine going back to the old way of waiting for someone else to call me and then try to describe events to me over the phone. You can’t be at the bedside 24/7...
The nurses have mentioned many times to me that they like knowing that I have it because it makes it easier for them to discuss situations with me because they know that I actually can see the strip. It puts more of the responsibility for initial interpretation where it rightly belongs, which is with me.
Cleveland Clinic - Fairview Hospital
"...I had been watching her contraction and fetal heart pattern on AirStrip OB all night, concerned that at any time, I may have to perform an emergency C-section. I then realized that I could take AirStrip OB with me to the operating room and watch my patient’s pattern during the surgery. The OR was a 15 minute walk from labor and delivery, and I was able to carry and view AirStrip on my PDA phone while walking to the OR...
My unconscious patient had had a seizure but was doing better upon my arrival. I then proceeded back to the OR, all the while never losing site on the AirStrip OB monitor screen. As I was walking to the OR the hospital then experienced a total power outage, and had to resort to the emergency backup generator. Fortunately, AirStrip is a wireless, battery operated program that does not depend on AC current, so I was still able to use it (the fetal monitors were now being run by generators)!
...AirStrip OB gave me peace of mind in this, the first week of deployment. I can envision many scenarios where airstrip will be invaluable to ALL practicing OBGYN’s in a multitude of situations.
...the faster we can get a patient ready for the doctor upon arrival can and will make the difference in preventing severely brain damaged baby or even death.
Thanks again for giving your colleagues this incredible tool to which allow us to practice safer obstetrics!
Sincerely,"
Edward Zabrek, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.
"AirStrip OB has been invaluable to my practice. I am a solo OB/GYN in a rural area so nights are often flooded with triage and laboring patients. At least with my phone PC I find that I can minimize unnecessary trips to the labor room and more importantly respond quickly to situations that need my attention. Often times while in route I can provide intervention/orders to the labor staff, thereby decreasing the lag time between fetal changes and effective intervention. Many times I recognize changes in the tracing before the nurses have consulted me. The nurses also have commented that they feel more confident that I can quickly review situations; often that only need reassurance."
